Installing The Mattress |
When you open the box or bag that the waterbed comes in, be very careful if using a knife or razor to cut only the container open. Unfold and unroll the mattress into the cavity of the protective cover or safety liner. Be sure the fill valve is located at the foot of the bed. This is the proper orientation for the mattress.
|
Gently pull the fill tube up out of the mattress by pulling the two handles on the cap. Unscrew the cap. Remove the plug or stopper.
Attach your fill attachment to the hose and screw it into the mattress. Fill using warm water and gently tug the mattress into position while it fills. This will need to be done periodically while filling to ensure the mattress is located in the frame where you want it. Fill until the mattress is approximately 25% filled. Add Conditioner and continue filling until approximatly level with frame. With Dual mattresses fill each mattress about 2 inches at a time, alternating between them. A much more detailed description is located in our Info area, be sure to return to our website when you receive your mattress. |

How Much water is Enough? This depends on the style of mattress. Many recommend filling until level with the top of the frame as an approximation. Adding or subtracting water can change the feel of the bed a great deal.
The number one complaint we have found with mattress comfort is caused by improper mattress filling. With fiberfilled (or baffled) mattresses rated over 95% waveless, more water makes it appear softer and less water makes it appear firmer. With a mattress of 90% or less waveless rating, the mattress should be filled to accommodate the largest sleeper for the bed. This is done by measuring with the body. Sit in the middle of the bed. Rock gently to the left and right. If your bottom only touches when you rock from side to side, it is filled the correct amount. If your bottom is always touching, add water. If your bottom never touches, drain some. Continue until properly filled. |
